How to Make Face Oil for Aging Skin
Blending your custom face oil for aging skin is easier than you think or try one of our recipes.
As my family and I have aged we have tried many skin care products. As the years have gone by our skin needs more attention. Most of us want our skin to feel more like it did when we were young. There are so many products out there but so many have harsh ingredients or are very expensive.
So I went on a mission to learn how to make my own face oils for our aging skin. It has been a fun learning process and my families skin has benefited quite nicely.
Oils are easy to make and you can create the mixture that is perfect for you. It can be a bit confusing, so I thought I would shed a little light on how easy it can be.
There are 3 Basic steps:
1 – Pick a carrier oil.
2 – Add an enriching oil.
3 – Choose some essential oils for custom benefits.
Here are some options and their benefits to help you choose your face oil ingredients.
1st – Pick a Carrier Oil:
Sweet Almond Oil – This oil is high in monounsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E and K. It provides intense moisture helping the skin to regenerate and maintain elasticity. SPF around 5.
Coconut Oil – An excellent anti-oxidant due to it’s high vitamin E content to help heal skin. SPF 8.
Avocado Oil – Is a much thicker oil but a great collagen builder. Helps with the texture and with aging spots. Can mix with a thinner oil if it is too thick for you. SPF 15.
Jojoba Oil – A very light oil so it absorbs deeply into the skin with anti-inflammatory properties. The structure of the oil is very similar to the skins natural sebum. SPF 4.
2nd – Add an Enriching Oils:
Rosehip Seed Oil – Very high concentration of Vitamin A which has been known for helping reduce fine lines and wrinkles, increase collagen production, lighten age spots, soften and smooth out skins texture.
Argan oil – Has high levels of saponins which helps hydrate and restore elasticity to your skin. Helps tighten aging skin and absorbs easily.
Evening Primrose Oil – High in gamma-linolenic acid reducing clogged pores and boosts blood circulation. Helps treat tired dull skin.
Carrot Seed Oil – Prime beneficial property is the carotenoids which detox and rejuvenate skin cells.
3rd – Choose some Essential Oils:
Sandalwood Oil – Helps soothe damaged skin helping fade scars, lines and wrinkles, improving skins health.
Frankincense Oil – Used to help tighten and tone our aging skin. Known for helping skin tone and elasticity.
Neroli – This oil is a natural antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic. Helps to regenerate skin cells improving elasticity.
Ylang Ylang – Is a fantastic oil to maintain moisture and oil balance of your skin which results in a younger smoother complexion.
Geranium – Helps with overall skin tone, lightening age spots. Improves circulation which aides in cell regeneration.
While creating your face oil start with a dark or amber glass bottle to block light. Light can cause your oil to oxidize. I use 2 ounce spray bottles to control the amount of oil flow. Fill 2/3 of the bottle with the carrier oil, then fill with secondary oil. Choose the essential oils you want to try. Add a total of about 15 drops of oil total per ounce of oil. Try different blends until you create your master piece.
Here are a couple of recipe ideas for an aging skin face oil if you don’t know where to start:
1.5 ounces of Almond oil
.5 ounces rosehip oil
5 drops Frankincense oil
5 drops Ylang Ylang
5 drops Geranium
1 ounce Avocado oil
.5 ounce Jojoba oil
.5 Argan oil
3 drops Sandalwood oil, Frankincense, Neroli, Ylang Ylang, Geranium.
NOTE: For best results wash face before applying oil. Pat lightly leaving face damp. Make sure to test a small area of skin to make sure you do not have an allergic reaction.
